Since opening in 1977, Iceberg has become one of the most popular ice cream parlors at the Jersey Shore. We were nominated in the years of 2012 and 2013 by The Happening List as Ocean County’s Best Frozen Desert and won this title in both 2014 and 2015. We were also named by Munchmobile as one of the top 10 for Best Jersey Shore Eats. We are continuing to expand the business with exciting plans for the future.
THE D’ALOISIO’S SHARE THEIR STORY
Benny has been in the restaurant business since he was a kid. Originating from Queens, New York he worked with his parents and 2 brothers in their Manhattan pizzeria. After moving to Toms River in 1986 they opened Lenny’s Pizza and reinvented pizza at the Jersey Shore.
Elizabeth grew up in North Jersey as a child but spent every summer in Lavallette with her family in Garwood, New Jersey, she taught dance to girls aged 3-15 years. While vacationing in Lavallette each summer Elizabeth worked at a few of our local establishments such as Water Works, and B&B Department Store in Seaside Park. She worked as a badge checker in Lavallette and finally began working at Rockafella’s By The Sea too in Ortley Beach.
While working At Rockafella’s, Elizabeth met Benny in 2002. In 2005 Beth and Benny worked together opening Benny & Phil’s Grill at Used to Be’s in Mantoloking.
At the close of that summer they bought Iceberg Ice Cream from previous owners Art & Diane Simpson. In March 2006 they got married and after returning from their honeymoon they opened Iceberg for their first season in April.
Beth is now the primary operator of Iceberg while Benny runs Lenny’s with his brother Phil.
